Job summary

D.C. Global Talent Inc. is seeking a General Manager for an upscale hostel in San Juan, Puerto Rico, to lead the project during pre-opening and beyond. This role requires coordinating with ownership on layout, guest flow, and opening readiness while building the opening team and establishing service standards.

You will oversee daily operations, develop guest experiences, drive occupancy and revenue, manage budgets, and ensure safety and guest satisfaction in a startup hospitality environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of management experience in hostel or social/lifestyle accommodation.
• Fluent in English and Spanish.
• Pre-opening or renovation experience preferred.

About the Opportunity

A hospitality group with a growing portfolio of boutique properties is turning a residential building in San Juan into an upscale social hostel. The property is steps from the beach and built around local experiences like surfing, diving and fitness. We are looking for a General Manager to join during planning and renovation and lead the property through opening and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with ownership during pre-opening on layout, amenities, guest flow and operating decisions
• Build and lead the opening team, including hiring, training and scheduling
• Oversee daily operations: front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, guest experience and safety
• Develop the guest experience and community programming, including local partnerships for tours, activities and events
• Drive revenue through pricing, occupancy strategy, add-on sales and online distribution channels
• Manage budgets, P&L and operating costs, and report performance to ownership
• Protect online reputation and keep service standards consistent across the property

Requirements

• 3+ years of management experience in a hostel or social/lifestyle accommodation (required)
• Pre-opening or renovation experience strongly preferred
• Solid grasp of hostel revenue drivers: dorm pricing, OTA management and ancillary revenue
• Hands-on leader who is comfortable in a start-up setting
• Fluent in English and Spanish
• Based in Puerto Rico, or open to relocating (Miami-based candidates welcome)
