Description

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The Manager's primary duty is to lead all subordinate staff, maintaining positive morale through training and support and ensuring the needs of all customers are met well and timely in order to achieve the highest possible scores and ratings. The Manager oversees operations and administration of the facility in a manner to be profitable and in compliance with Federal and State regulations as well as all policies and regulations of our customers (including the military).

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Meet with associates on a regular basis to communicate expectations and evaluate training levels.
  • Schedule staff in such a way that all shipments and tasks are covered, but without excess personnel present.
  • Handle all staff actions such as promotion, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Actively manage financials, modifying processes as needed to remain profitable.
  • Maintain all invoicing, billing, payables, expense reports, etc. in a current and timely fashion.
  • Coordinate with Sales personnel to ensure regular flow of leads and bookings, including managing advertising as necessary.
  • Raise issues to superiors in a timely manner and proactively seek resolutions.
  • Must be adept at using computers, including Microsoft Office Excel and Word, as well as be able to learn company systems.
  • Must be a problem solver and able to think and act quickly, within rules and regulations.
  • Review business mix/amount.
  • Analyze and file rates.
  • Review long term objectives.
  • Review the company needs. (equipment, systems, etc.)
  • Make suggestions/recommendations that could enhance or streamline operations.
  • Recruit, hire and train other personnel for management areas and resolve personnel problems.
  • Handle complaints, infractions, etc., which are referred to him and take necessary action to resolve these situations.
  • Develop and review budget and goals with staff.
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere in which employees willingly produce at maximum capacity.
  • Supervise maintenance of preferred staffing levels.
  • Assign employee responsibilities and maintain job descriptions.
  • Develop performance standards.
  • Supervise ongoing employee training.
  • Develop sound working relationships within the business community.
  • Ensure all customers receive courteous and efficient service from all employees.
  • Handle claims and complaints promptly.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Clear understanding of moving industry.
  • Must possess good administrative, public relations and maintenance skills necessary to enhance overall operations.
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience in a relevant management-level position and knowledge of the moving industry.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the financial management of a moving or transportation company.
  • Experience with marketing and customer service in a service company.
  • Extensive supervisory experience: hiring, training, conflict resolution skills, evaluation, disciplinary action.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated initiative, leadership ability.
  • Ability to handle multiple demands.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy.
  • Requires ability to multitask.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and at a fast pace.
