Our client is a growing, entrepreneurial waste services company looking for an Operations Manager to help lead and grow its local business. This is a hands‑on leadership opportunity for someone with 5–7 years of experience who enjoys wearing multiple hats and having a direct impact on the business.
Working with a small, close‑knit team, this person will oversee day‑to‑day operations while also helping develop new business and strengthen customer relationships. The ideal candidate is a natural problem‑solver, organized, self‑motivated, and comfortable working in an environment where there is no shortage of things to do.
What You'll Do
- Oversee daily operations and ensure customers receive reliable, responsive service.
- Lead and support a small team of field employees, creating a positive and accountable work environment.
- Coordinate scheduling, equipment readiness, maintenance, and day‑to‑day field activities.
- Monitor safety, service quality, and operational efficiency.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing customers and proactively address issues before they become problems.
- Help identify and develop new business opportunities within the local market.
- Participate in customer meetings, site visits, demonstrations, proposals, and closing new business.
- Monitor business performance, expenses, invoicing, and collections.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce costs, and increase revenue.
- Use CRM, fleet management, and other technology to manage customers, operations, and business activity.
- Step into the field and work alongside the team when needed.
What We're Looking For
- 5–7 years of professional experience, ideally in operations, field services, waste services, construction services, industrial services, or a similar environment.
- Experience leading people and managing day‑to‑day business operations.
- Strong business development and customer relationship skills.
- Comfortable identifying opportunities, developing relationships, and helping close new business.
- Hands‑on leadership style—you enjoy being involved in the business rather than managing exclusively from a desk.
- Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize competing demands and make decisions independently.
- Comfortable working with business technology, CRM systems, and operational software.
- Strong communication skills and a professional approach with customers and employees.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to operate commercial equipment after training.
