Job summary

Goldfish Swim School is seeking a General Manager to oversee daily operations, staffing, pool and cash management, and customer service. You will lead sales, retail, and private party operations, ensuring safety and high standards across the facility.

Ideal candidates have experience in youth-focused operations, strong leadership, and a background in management. The role offers growth opportunities and a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to work with children is essential.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills required.
• Must pass background examinations (included with training).
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; HS diploma acceptable with experience.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily operations per GSS SOPs.
• Manage staff to ensure productivity, performance and satisfaction.
• Train aquatics department for quality swim instruction and scheduling.
• Provide sales and marketing training to qualified staff.
• Oversee retail and vending departments pricing and mix of products.
• Train and supervise private party staff and events.
• Develop familiarity with Links software for bookings and reporting.
• Oversee pool operations to maintain safety and sanitary standards.
• Lead employee engagement activities to boost morale.
• Implement Emergency Action Plan and safety procedures; train staff.
• Maintain current certifications and professional knowledge.
• Schedule staff and manage payroll.
• Fulfills other duties as assigned by the Employer.

Summary:

Oversees the quality and success of Goldfish Swim School daily operations including staffing, pool operations, cash management, customer service, retail and vending department, private party operations and workplace employee activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Directs and controls the daily operations to ensure the school is running per GSS standard operating procedures.
2. Manages the staff of GSS to ensure high productivity, excellent performance and positive employee satisfaction.
3. Trains and oversees aquatics department to provide superior swim instruction to the students of GSS. Interacts with the Deck Supervisors and Lead Teachers on issues related to class scheduling, student progress, customer service and employee performance and training.
4. Provides sales and marketing training to all qualified sales staff.
5. Provides direction in the retail and vending departments to ensure a proper mix of products and pricing is achieved.
6. Trains and oversees private party staff to ensure that the GSS standard operating procedures are being maintained.
7. Gains knowledge and experience in the Links software to achieve a high level of competence in bookings, class scheduling, reporting and administrative functions.
8. Gains a high level of knowledge and experience in the GSS pool operations necessary to maintain a safe and sanitary swim environment.
9. Initiates and oversees workplace employee activities (“Fun” Department) with the goal of achieving improved employee satisfaction.
10. Directs and oversees the implementation of the Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and all safety procedures that pertain to the GSS facility. Trains all current staff on the GSS EAP.
11. Maintains current certifications and stays up-to-date professionally on the aquatics and management field.
12. Schedules staff and manages payroll.
13. Fulfills other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Employer.

Education/Experience

High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications or equivalent is desired. Experience as youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor or aquatics instructor/supervisor is preferred. Three to five years management experience is preferred.

Certificates and Licenses

Lifeguard, CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.

While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to heat and humidity. Noise level is usually moderate.
