Job summary

Goldfish Swim School in Phoenix seeks a General Manager to oversee daily operations including staffing, pool operations, cash management, customer service, and party operations. The role reports to the Owner and pays $60,000–$65,000 per year with Exempt status.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED (Bachelor's preferred), experience in youth instruction or aquatics supervision, and 3–5 years of management experience. Certifications such as Lifeguard/CPR/First Aid are required.

Qualifications

• Experience as youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor or aquatics supervisor preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily operations per GSS SOP.
• Manage staff to ensure productivity, performance and satisfaction.
• Train aquatics department for superior swim instruction; coordinate scheduling and training.
• Provide sales and marketing training to qualified staff.
• Direct retail and vending departments to ensure proper product mix and pricing.
• Train and oversee private party staff per SOP.
• Gain knowledge of Links software for bookings, scheduling and reporting.
• Maintain safe and sanitary pool operations.
• Initiate and oversee employee activities to boost satisfaction.
• Implement Emergency Action Plan and safety procedures; train staff.
• Maintain current certifications and stay up-to-date in aquatics management.
• Schedule staff and manage payroll.

Job Title: General Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

Summary: Oversees the quality and success of Goldfish Swim School daily operations including staffing, pool operations, cash management, customer service, retail and vending department, private party operations and workplace employee activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Directs and controls the daily operations to ensure the school is running per GSS standard operating procedures.
2. Manages the staff of GSS to ensure high productivity, excellent performance and positive employee satisfaction.
3. Trains and oversees aquatics department to provide superior swim instruction to the students of GSS. Interacts with the Deck Supervisors and Lead Teachers on issues related to class scheduling, student progress, customer service and employee performance and training.
4. Provides sales and marketing training to all qualified sales staff.
5. Provides direction in the retail and vending departments to ensure a proper mix of products and pricing is achieved.
6. Trains and oversees private party staff to ensure that the GSS standard operating procedures are being maintained.
7. Gains knowledge and experience in the Links software to achieve a high level of competence in bookings, class scheduling, reporting and administrative functions.
8. Gains a high level of knowledge and experience in the GSS pool operations necessary to maintain a safe and sanitary swim environment.
9. Initiates and oversees workplace employee activities (“Fun” Department) with the goal of achieving improved employee satisfaction.
10. Directs and oversees the implementation of the Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and all safety procedures that pertain to the GSS facility. Trains all current staff on the GSS EAP.
11. Maintains current certifications and stays up-to-date professionally on the aquatics and management field.
12. Schedules staff and manages payroll.
13. Fulfills other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Employer.

Education/Experience

High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications or equivalent is desired. Experience as youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor or aquatics instructor/supervisor is preferred. Three to five years management experience is preferred.

Certificates and Licenses

Lifeguard, CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required.

Work Environment

While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to heat and humidity. Noise level is usually moderate.

Compensation: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
