General Manager Overview

Dogtopia, the industry leader in dog daycare, boarding, and spa services, has an immediate opening for an energetic, organized, business‑minded individual to lead our team as General Manager. This role requires a management and operations background, strong customer service skills, and a passion for dogs. Successful completion of training allows you to bring your own dog to work.

Responsibilities

Team Management

• Creates and monitors staffing schedules.
• Maintains optimum staffing and employee development.
• Leads by example, coaching staff to contribute to a positive, team‑oriented culture.
• Delivers written performance reviews and acknowledges employees appropriately.
• Onboards all employees and ensures they receive complete training.
• Manages cleaning schedules and holds staff accountable to safety and cleanliness standards.
• Handles dogs with ongoing behavioral issues, initiating action plans to retain those with minor problems.

Financial and Administrative

• Manages groomers (if applicable), quality control, schedules, and client records.
• Develops upselling techniques and uses dog evaluations to increase revenue.
• Maintains controllable expenses within budgetary constraints, forecasts, tracks, and orders supplies, minimizes payroll, and seeks efficiency improvements.
• Communicates concerns or needs to the franchise owner proactively.

Customer Service and Presentation

• Maintains a neat, organized front desk and holds the team to a professional attire standard.
• Sets the example for the 3 Ss (smile, story, satisfaction) and holds the team accountable to internal and external customer service standards.
• Keeps team members engaged in their duties.
• Strives for high customer review ratings.

As the General Manager you work with customers and team members to ensure the highest standards and satisfaction in the customer experience.
