About this position
Job Summary: The primary role of the Assistant General Manager is to assist the General Manager in overseeing the management of and all functions of their assigned daycare location in representing Red Barn Dog Holdings, LLC in their market under the Dogtopia banner. The Assistant General Manager is responsible for creating a positive work environment, managing all team members, and helping the team meet all business objectives set for the location. The Assistant General Manager ensures the highest safety standards and levels of satisfaction for all pets and their pet parents.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Assist the General Manager in driving business to meet and exceed goals by developing and supervising the team on Meet and Greet, Dogs in Door, Enrollments, and add‑on services.
- Assist in hiring, onboarding, and employee management, including training compliance.
- Assist in maintaining optimum staffing levels and labor costs for the location.
- Communicate any concerns or needs to the General Manager proactively and partner to resolve issues.
- Support building the brand through grassroots efforts with vets, shelters, and local community groups.
- Support creating a positive, open work environment for the team and for the pups visiting daily.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Drive new leads and lines of business for the location using marketing KPIs to reach new customers.
- Oversee lead follow‑up and Meet and Greet activities with the front desk team.
- Develop the front desk team to proactively build momentum with pet parents and upsell enrollments and add‑ons.
- Maintain controllable expenses within budgetary constraints, including forecasting, tracking, and ordering supplies, minimizing payroll, and actively seeking ways to maximize efficiency.
- Manage social media posts for the store and individual media pages using provided branding assets.
- Participate in promotional activities or events to promote the location.
- Create and manage the schedule for all location employees.
- Monitor and assist as needed in the playrooms. Know all dogs in the facility to ensure safety and appropriate daily assignments.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment using cleaning protocols to provide an exceptional experience for pets and their parents.
- Update the cleaning schedule, holding self and team accountable to Dogtopia’s safety and cleaning standards.
- Dismiss dogs with ongoing behavior issues proactively and monitor action plans for those with minor issues.
- Manage groomers, including quality control of work, safety, schedules, and client records.
- Strive for the highest level of satisfaction for pups, pet parents, and the team.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year of experience managing others in a supervisory role in a professional environment.
- Franchise experience a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and moving around the playrooms.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
