Job summary

Lone Horse Ventures is recruiting on behalf of an engineering services client with a strong oilfield presence. The General Manager will provide executive leadership, guide strategy and growth, and drive profitability across a multi-discipline organization that delivers OT solutions, automation, and field services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Operations Management, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive leadership experience within industrial services, systems integration, automation, electrical and instrumentation, manufacturing, or Oil & Gas industries.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of senior leadership experience managing multiple departments, business units, or large-scale operations.
  • Proven experience leading P&L responsibility and driving profitable business growth.
  • Proven experience leading large teams and developing management-level personnel.
  • Strong understanding of operational technology, industrial automation, engineering services, and project execution.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning, and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

Position Summary

The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, financial performance, operational execution, and growth of the business unit. This role provides executive oversight of operations, business development, project delivery, safety performance, workforce development, and customer relationships while ensuring alignment with corporate objectives.

The successful candidate will drive sustainable growth, operational excellence, and profitability while developing a high-performing culture focused on safety, accountability, innovation, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Business Leadership & Strategy

  • Provide overall leadership and direction for the business unit.
  • Develop and execute strategic business plans to achieve revenue, profitability, and growth objectives.
  • Establish annual operating plans, budgets, and performance targets.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational effectiveness and financial performance.

Operations Management

  • Oversee all operational activities including project execution, engineering, automation services, field services, maintenance support, logistics, and customer delivery.
  • Ensure operational processes, systems, and resources are aligned to support business objectives.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational effectiveness.
  • Implement best practices that improve efficiency, quality, safety, and customer outcomes.
  • Resolve escalated operational challenges and ensure successful project delivery.

Business Development & Client Relations

  • Lead strategic customer engagement efforts and strengthen relationships with key accounts.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the Oil & Gas, Industrial, Manufacturing, Midstream, and Energy sectors.
  • Partner with sales and leadership teams to develop growth strategies and market penetration plans.
  • Participate in client presentations, contract negotiations, and executive-level business reviews.
  • Expand the company's market presence through networking, industry involvement, and customer advocacy.

Leadership & Talent Development

  • Build, lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing management team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Establish succession planning and workforce development initiatives.

Required Qualifications
