Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a skilled maintenance technician to perform general building repair and preventive maintenance at Fort Bliss. Responsibilities include electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and drywall patching to keep facilities safe and functional.

Job description

Perform general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings under general supervision
Replace electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors
Patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings using plaster or compound
Repair or replace sinks, water coolers, and toilets
Paint structures and equipment
Repair or replace concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks
Replace damaged paneling and floor tiles
Hang doors and install door locks
Replace broken window panes
Perform general maintenance on equipment and machinery
May perform sign‑making duties and operate related equipment
May purchase and pick up supplies and materials for projects
Travel frequently between facilities
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

Requirements

One year of work experience in general building maintenance, or demonstrated ability to use hand and power tools and specialized equipment in electrical, plumbing or general carpentry
Use and maintenance of own tools may be required
Ability to manage material resources and time
Ability to work safely
Ability to follow directions, instructions, structured process and procedures, and complete tasks
Customer service skills to respond to customer inquiries and requests and escalated difficult matters appropriately
Communication skills to provide procedural and factual information and follow written and oral instructions
Flexibility to adapt to changing work priorities and build effective working relationships
Organizational, problem‑solving and common sense skills
Ability to accurately track material resources and time
Ability to travel to various facilities and work independently and as a team

Ability to maneuver around equipment, stand and walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, lift up to 50 pounds, and climb ladders or step stools
Ability to work in office, shop, warehouse, or outdoor environments and tolerate exposure to hazardous/toxic substances, electrical shock, equipment noise, and varying weather conditions
