Job Title: General Maintenance Technician

Shift: First Shift

Compensation: $17-$21

Job Summary:

EMCOR Facilities Services has an immediate opening for a General Maintenance Tech in Cincinnati, Ohio. High standards of quality are required. The candidate must be able to work in a team environment, possess good oral and written communication skills, maintain a professional appearance, and have a positive attitude. Must be self-motivated and proactive. Responsibilities include general handyman tasks, carpentry (replacing ceiling tiles, repairing locks, closures, walls, etc.), painting, rubber base, carpet, and floor tile work, minor plumbing (unclogging sinks, toilets, fixing leaks), and electrical work (replacing ballast, bulbs, etc.).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Inspect equipment daily to ensure proper operation; perform repairs as needed, including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  2. Perform general building repairs, such as painting walls, doors, floors, and repairing plumbing systems, leaks, and toilets.
  3. Replace lighting components, ceiling tiles, and grid throughout the building.
  4. Maintain building lighting, parking lot lighting, emergency lights, exit signs, and outlets, including exterior lighting controlled by the energy management system.
  5. Perform snow removal in winter, including operating snow blowers and spreading Calcium Chloride.
  6. Maintain doors and hardware, repairing or replacing as necessary.
  7. Complete accurate and timely paperwork related to maintenance tasks.
  8. Communicate effectively with customers and managers regarding work requests, parts, and delays.
  9. Replace carpet tiles and rubber base as needed.
  10. Maintain tenant spaces to the same standards, including plumbing and other repairs.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 4–6 years of related experience
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, manuals, and procedures
  • Effective communication skills
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to interpret instructions
  • Ability to read tape measures and perform basic measurements
  • Professional conduct in occupied spaces
Physical Demands:

The role requires standing, walking, using hands, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, balancing, sitting, and tasting or smelling. Must lift up to 25 pounds regularly, 50 pounds frequently, and 100 pounds occasionally. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception.

Work Environment:

Exposure to humid conditions, moving parts, heights, fumes, chemicals, weather extremes, electrical hazards, and loud noise. Reasonable accommodations are available for individuals with disabilities.
