Job summary

UPMC in Lititz is hiring a Full-time General Maintenance-Multi-Craft Technician to support multiple trades across hospital facilities. You will bring own hand tools while UPMC provides power and specialty tools. The night shift runs Sunday through Friday 10:30pm–7:00am.

Final placement depends on education and experience within the ladder. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, logs, building systems, basic electrical/plumbing/carpentry work, and infection control compliance.

Qualifications

• Completed trade school or experience in one trade and willingness to learn others.
• Ability to support multiple trades based on department needs.
• Willingness to work night shift and adapt to schedule.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance tasks with minimal supervision.
• Carry out preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment.
• Exhibit basic knowledge of electricity, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
• Maintain clean and safe work areas and logs for shift responsibilities.
• Maintain water chemistry and testing procedures on equipment and building systems.
• Operate and maintain building's direct digital control (DDC) systems.
• Order materials as needed.
• Perform infection control procedures during all work.
• Carry out minor carpentry and painting tasks.
• Record work orders and hours daily to supervisor.
• Repair plumbing fixtures and leaks; soldering where needed.
• Perform general cleaning of equipment and mechanical areas.
• Assist with bed maintenance and related tasks.
• Able to perform snow removal and work in adverse weather.

You will need to provide your own hand tools, UPMC will provide power tools and specialty tools.

In this role, you’ll handle a variety of tasks each day. Instead of working in just one trade, you’ll support multiple trades based on the department’s needs. Schedule is Sunday-Friday-morning 10:30pm-7:00am (Night Shift)

Final candidate will be hired within the career ladder based on their education and experience.

Salary range for this position is $22.35-$49.20/hr.

Responsibilities:

• Perform general maintenance work and tasks as directed with minimal supervision.
• Perform specific preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment
• Exhibit a basic knowledge of electricity, plumbing, carpentry/hardware, mechanical equipment and facilities systems.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area, equipment rooms and shop areas.
  Maintain all written logs pertaining to shift responsibilities, i.e., med gas, equipment room rounds, etc.
• Maintain water chemistry and testing procedures on equipment and building systems.
• Operate and maintain a variety of building's direct digital control (DDC) systems.
• Order materials as needed.
• Perform all work following infection control procedures.
• Perform minor carpentry and painting work.
• Record work orders and submit hours to supervisor on a daily basis.

• Performs required maintenance, repair and inspection of beds.
• Ability to perform snow removal activities and work in adverse weather conditions.
