UPMC is hiring a full-time General Maintenance 2 to support the hospital in Carlisle. You will work across multiple trades, with hands-on responsibilities and the expectation to provide your own hand tools.

The schedule is Wednesday through Saturday, 6:00am–4:30pm, with holiday work on scheduled days. The role requires versatility across electricity, plumbing, carpentry, and mechanical systems, plus logging duties and adherence to infection-control procedures.

Qualifications

• Must have completed trade school or have equivalent hands-on experience across multiple trades.
• Must provide your own hand tools; employer provides power tools and specialty tools.
• Full-time role with schedule and responsibilities as described in the posting.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance work and tasks with minimal supervision.
• Perform preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment.
• Exhibit basic knowledge of electricity, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical systems.
• Maintain clean and safe work areas and logs for shift responsibilities.
• Operate and maintain building controls (DDC) systems and order materials as needed.
• Record work orders and submit hours daily; perform minor repairs and maintenance.
• Perform snow removal and work in adverse weather conditions.

You will need to provide your own hand tools, UPMC will provide power tools and specialty tools.

In this role, you’ll handle a variety of tasks each day. Instead of working in just one trade, you’ll support multiple trades based on the department’s needs. Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance work and tasks as directed with minimal supervision.
• Perform specific preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment
• Exhibit a basic knowledge of electricity, plumbing, carpentry/hardware, mechanical equipment and facilities systems.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area, equipment rooms and shop areas.
• Maintain all written logs pertaining to shift responsibilities, i.e., med gas, equipment room rounds, etc.
• Maintain water chemistry and testing procedures on equipment and building systems.
• Operate and maintain a variety of building's direct digital control (DDC) systems.
• Order materials as needed.
• Perform all work following infection control procedures.
• Perform minor carpentry and painting work.
• Record work orders and submit hours to supervisor on a daily basis.
• Minor repairs and maintaining of plumbing fixtures, piping systems, plumbing leaks (soldering), defective pipes and clogged drains.
• Performs general cleaning duties on equipment and in mechanical support areas.
• Performs required maintenance, repair and inspection of beds.
• Ability to perform snow removal activities and work in adverse weather conditions.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
