Job summary

UPMC in Harrisburg is seeking a Full-time General Maintenance 2 (Evening) to support multiple trades in a hospital setting. You’ll provide your own hand tools while UPMC supplies power and specialty tools, and you’ll work the evening shift Wednesday through Saturday, with holiday coverage as needed.

You’ll perform general and preventive maintenance, use basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry and mechanical knowledge, keep logs, manage materials, and ensure infection control procedures are

Qualifications

• Experience in general maintenance or related trades.
• Evening shift availability required (Wed-Sat 12:00–22:30).
• Must provide your own hand tools; UPMC provides power tools and specialty tools.
• Must follow infection control procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance work and tasks with minimal supervision.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Basic knowledge of electricity, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical systems.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas and logs.
• Operate and maintain building's DDC systems.
• Order materials as needed.
• Maintain water chemistry and testing procedures.
• Record work orders and submit hours daily.
• Minor repairs of plumbing fixtures and leaks.
• Perform cleaning of equipment and mechanical areas.
• Snow removal and adverse weather work.
• Other duties as assigned.

UPMC is hiring a Full-time, General Maintenance 2 (Evening) to support the hospital in Harrisburg.

You will need to provide your own hand tools, UPMC will provide power tools and specialty tools.

In this role, you’ll handle a variety of tasks each day. Instead of working in just one trade, you’ll support multiple trades based on the department’s needs. If you have completed trade school or have experience in one trade and you’re eager to learn and grow your skills in others, this position could be a great fit for you!

Schedule is Wednesday-Saturday 12:00pm-10:30pm (Evening Shift)

Required to work holidays that land on scheduled workday.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance work and tasks as directed with minimal supervision.
• Perform specific preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment
• Exhibit a basic knowledge of electricity, plumbing, carpentry/hardware, mechanical equipment and facilities systems.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area, equipment rooms and shop areas.
  Maintain all written logs pertaining to shift responsibilities, i.e., med gas, equipment room rounds, etc.
• Maintain water chemistry and testing procedures on equipment and building systems.
• Operate and maintain a variety of building's direct digital control (DDC) systems.
• Order materials as needed.
• Perform all work following infection control procedures.
• Perform minor carpentry and painting work.
• Record work orders and submit hours to supervisor on a daily basis.
• Minor repairs and maintaining of plumbing fixtures, piping systems, plumbing leaks (soldering), defective pipes and clogged drains.
• Performs general cleaning duties on equipment and in mechanical support areas.
• Performs required maintenance, repair and inspection of beds.
• Ability to perform snow removal activities and work in adverse weather conditions.
