Job summary

UPMC in Mechanicsburg is hiring a Full-time, Multi-Craft Technician (Evening) to support the West Shore hospital. You will work across trades, using the knowledge you bring from trade school or one trade, and you’ll have opportunities to learn and grow in others.

The evening shift runs Wednesday through Saturday, 1:00pm–11:00pm, with responsibilities including general maintenance, preventive maintenance on equipment, basic electrical and plumbing tasks, keeping logs, and maintaining a safe,

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance work and tasks as directed with minimal supervision.
• Perform specific preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment
• Exhibit a basic knowledge of electricity, plumbing, carpentry/hardware, mechanical equipment and facilities systems.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area, equipment rooms and shop areas.
• Maintain all written logs pertaining to shift responsibilities, i.e., med gas, equipment room rounds, etc.
• Maintain water chemistry and testing procedures on equipment and building systems.
• Operate and maintain a variety of building's direct digital control (DDC) systems.
• Order materials as needed.
• Perform all work following infection control procedures.
• Perform minor carpentry and painting work.
• Record work orders and submit hours to supervisor on a daily basis.
• Minor repairs and maintaining of plumbing fixtures, piping systems, plumbing leaks, defective pipes and clogged drains.
• Performs general cleaning duties on equipment and in mechanical support areas.
• Performs required maintenance, repair and inspection of beds.
• Ability to perform snow removal activities and work in adverse weather conditions.

You will need to provide your own hand tools, UPMC will provide power tools and specialty tools.

In this role, you’ll handle a variety of tasks each day. Instead of working in just one trade, you’ll support multiple trades based on the department’s needs.
