Job summary

General Mills Buffalo plant is hiring a General Production Associate on 1st shift. The role involves installing, maintaining and repairing milling equipment, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and supporting equipment changes to keep the line running.

Overtime, weekend, nights, and holiday work may be required. The position requires a high school diploma or GED, 3–5 years in industrial maintenance, ability to read schematics, welding skills, basic computer literacy, and good English

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, repair, and replace industrial milling machinery, tools and equipment.
  • Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues to minimize downtime.
  • Provide technical support and leadership for equipment troubleshooting and modifications.
  • Perform welding and fabrication tasks and both uptime and downtime preventive maintenance.
  • Support Continuous Improvement initiatives to boost platform performance.

Your Work Schedule and Shift Information
  • 8‑hour shift (Only hiring for 1st shift at this time)
  • 1st shift: 7:00 am to 3:00 pm
  • 2nd shift: 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm
  • 3rd shift: 11:00 pm to 7:00 am
  • Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, nights, and holidays as needed
  • Plantoperates24 hours/day, 7 days/week.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

As part of our manufacturing team, you will:

  • Installing, maintaining, repairing, and replacing industrial milling machinery, work tools and equipment
  • Identifying and troubleshooting mechanical issues
  • Providing technical support and plant leadership for equipment troubleshooting and equipment modifications
  • Performing welding and fabrication activities
  • Performing both uptime and downtime preventative maintenance
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives to increase platform performance
  • Assistother plant areas as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3-5 years ofexperience in industrial maintenance or equivalent education in a related field
  • Solid understanding of maintenance shop skills with the ability to read schematics, troubleshoot, and work on mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, and ability to perform welding and fabrication tasks
  • Basic mechanical understanding and blueprint reading
  • Outstanding mechanical aptitude with applicable, proven maintenance experience. Proven ability to learn, maintain and practice troubleshooting skills, and use test equipment to diagnose root cause.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills
  • Ability to work rotating 8-hour shifts
  • Mustpossessthe ability to understand and effectively communicate with co‑workers, supervisors, and others in the workplaceregardingwork matters (our business isgenerally conductedin English)
  • Ability tolift upto 50lbs
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, push, pull, and twist for extended periods
  • Willingness to work in hot, cold, noisy, wet, or dusty conditions
  • Ability to climb and/or work at heights whileutilizingstairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms
  • Ability to follow human and food safety, quality, and grooming standards
  • Ability to wear such as protective clothing and equipment (Personal Protective Equipment -PPE) such as safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, hard/bump cap, hair/beard net,gloves,and face masks (whenrequired)
  • Ability to work around high-speed machinery and foodallergens
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Manufacturing or production experience
  • Technical degree in industrial maintenance or related field
  • Welding, lathe, mill, and fabrication experience
