Job summary

ExplorUS in Port Angeles, WA is seeking a General Maintenance I to support the maintenance team across lodging, retail, restaurants, and housing facilities. You will handle work orders, basic repairs, and routine upkeep while providing friendly visitor service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Technical certification/degree preferred for advancement.
• At least 1 year of general maintenance and/or construction experience.

Responsibilities

• Receive and complete work orders in a timely manner per department policies.
• Perform basic maintenance tasks including painting, carpentry, plumbing, minor electrical, and landscaping.
• Carry out hands-on repairs across multiple maintenance disciplines.
• Follow safety policies and wear PPE as required.
• Provide courteous, knowledgeable service to visitors.
• Support ISO environmental and quality initiatives.

Title: General Maintenance I
Reports To: Maintenance Manager
Department: Maintenance

Summary of Position:

Responsible for assisting the Maintenance team in performing a variety of basic skills involved in the upkeep of buildings and grounds, including lodging, retail stores, restaurants, and housing.

Responsibilities:

• Receive and complete work orders in a timely and efficient manner, as required by Maintenance Department policies and procedures. Must assist in the completion, tracking, and reporting of work orders
• Duties may include general painting, carpentry, plumbing, minor electrical, masonry, landscaping maintenance, etc.
• Perform assigned maintenance and mechanical duties for buildings and associated facilities, furnishings, and equipment as requested
• Capable of “hands-on repairs” in most maintenance disciplines
• Comply with all safety policies and procedures, including when lifting, climbing, etc.
• Be available to assist other team members with maintenance-related tasks
• Provide polite, knowledgeable, and timely customer service when responding to visitor inquiries
• Understand the Company’s ISO (Environmental & Quality) management systems, policies, goals, and initiatives and meet the specific responsibilities within these areas
• Other duties per Duties Checklist and as assigned
  

Position Requirements:

• Demonstrate basic skill in the use of tools, materials, and equipment common to maintenance and repair
• Possess the initiative to learn and willingness to grow in maintenance operations
• Understand and effectively follow oral and written instructions
• Must be able to work on ladders, scaffolding, elevated platforms or crawl spaces, tunnels, ledges and roofs and understand the OSHA safety requirements as applicable
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Must be able to work a variety of day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts
• Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs. frequently and 50 lbs. occasionally
• Must have a valid driver’s license to operate vehicles throughout the property
  

Education and Experience:

Education: High school Diploma or equivalent

Technical certification/degree preferred

Experience: 1 year of general maintenance and/or construction

National Park Experience Preferred
