The General Maintenance 2 employee, under the direction of the Zoo Manager of Buildings & Facilities, performs skilled tasks requiring specialized training, considerable experience, and proven abilities. This includes, but is not limited to, skills in masonry, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, welding, etc., related to industrial building maintenance and construction.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Performs master-level skilled trade work in carpentry.
2. Performs building maintenance tasks such as drywall installation, cabinetry, flooring, locksmithing, ceiling tile repairs, plumbing, electrical work, welding, etc., as assigned.
3. Operates light equipment including tractors, chain saws, generators, trucks, and occasionally light construction equipment.
4. Provides construction labor for projects like road and path paving, drainage tile installation, wood deck construction, etc.
5. Provides work direction to seasonal employees, as assigned.
6. Responds to fire alarm systems when required.
7. Performs duties safely and efficiently to maintain a safe work environment.
8. Keeps supervisor informed of key issues.
9. Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.
