Job summary

Mountainland Technical College in Payson, UT is seeking a General Maintenance Technician to keep the campus safe, clean, and fully operational. Under the Associate Director of Physical Plant Operations, you will assist in maintaining grounds, perform essential repairs, and support campus operations.

A self-motivated individual with problem-solving skills is desired to join our facilities team. Responsibilities include operating equipment, landscaping, routine maintenance, and event setup.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least 6 months in maintenance, repair, or facility operations.
  • Ability to operate light trucks, tractors, and stationary equipment; basic repair knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate machinery to complete maintenance tasks.
  • Perform landscaping, snow/ice removal, and outdoor area upkeep.
  • Maintain SDS logs and other records; keep inventories up to date.
  • Inspect/repair campus fixtures (lighting, plumbing, furniture, door hardware).
  • Assist with moving furniture and setting up for events.
  • Replace bulbs, fix locks, patch walls, and perform minor maintenance.
  • Conduct routine cleaning to maintain a tidy campus environment.
  • Follow safety procedures and emergency protocols.

General Maintenance

Location: Payson, UT

Status: Full-time

Hours: Monday – Friday; 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Pay/Salary: $48,000-52,000 annually

As a General Maintenance Technician, you will play an essential role in ensuring our college campus remains safe, clean, and fully operational. Under the guidance of the Associate Director of Physical Plant Operations, you will assist in maintaining the grounds, perform essential repairs, and support campus operations. What You'll Do:

Responsibilities of the General Maintenance Technician include, but are not limited to:

  • Safely operate light and heavy machinery, including tractors, trucks, and stationary equipment, to complete maintenance tasks.
  • Perform landscaping duties, clear snow and ice, and maintain outdoor areas in a safe and well-maintained condition.

Maintain accurate and accessible records (i.e., SDS logs) as assigned.

Inspect, maintain, and repair campus fixtures, including lighting, plumbing, furniture, and door hardware.

Assist in transporting and arranging furniture, setting up for events, and ensuring all campus spaces are functional.

Replace light bulbs, repair broken locks, patch walls, and perform other minor maintenance tasks to ensure a high-quality campus environment.

Perform routine cleaning tasks, such as mopping, dusting, and trash removal, to maintain a tidy and healthy space.

Follow all college safety procedures, understand emergency protocols, and contribute to a safe campus environment.

What We're Looking For:
  • Education Requirements: A high school diploma or the equivalent.
  • Experience: At least six months of related experience in maintenance, repair, or facility operations.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to operate light trucks, tractors, and stationary equipment; knowledge of mechanical systems and basic repair methods. Basic use of computers to access automated record-keeping tools, maintain logs, inventories, respond to service requests, use email, access computerized maintenance management systems, and access automated control systems.
  • Licensing & Certification: A valid Utah Driver's license is required; ability to obtain forklift certification during employment.
  • Hands-On Abilities: Comfortable working with hand tools and power tools for repairs, installations, and general maintenance.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on safety, precision, and efficiency in daily tasks.
  • Communication: A bility to speak effectively with customers and/or employees.
