Job summary

Coconino Community College in Flagstaff, AZ is seeking a part-time Maintenance & Event Support Specialist to handle campus upkeep and assist with events. The role combines hands-on maintenance with coordinating event logistics and customer service.

The position is 19 hours per week, requires a high school diploma or GED with related experience, and a valid Arizona driver's license. Training in event management software and Microsoft Office is a plus.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Performs basic maintenance and repair.
  • Operates college vehicles.
  • Performs custodial/housekeeping duties.
  • Sets up and takes down furniture and equipment for special events.
  • Performs snow removal duties including shoveling and snow blower operation.
  • Maintains grounds and exterior areas (mowing, weed eating, sidewalks & parking lots, tree trimming, sign installation, striping).
  • Assists with event operations support, including setup verification, scheduling coordination, and logistics.
  • Uses event management software and related platforms for planning, documentation, and scheduling.
  • Conducts event readiness reviews to verify facility setup and equipment readiness.
  • Provides customer service support to event organizers and resolves routine questions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job description

This position supports both campus maintenance operations and event services. Successful candidates will be comfortable performing physical maintenance duties while also interacting with event organizers, utilizing computer-based scheduling systems, and supporting event logistics. This is a part-time, 19 hours a week position.

  • Provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Skills in safe work practices, including operating hand and power tools correctly.
  • Performs basic maintenance and repair.
  • Operates college vehicles.
  • Performs various custodial/ housekeeping duties, such as emergency clean-up.
  • Sets up and takes down furniture and equipment for special events.
  • Performs snow removal duties that include: shoveling and operating a snow blower.
  • Ability to work independently or as a team to complete a task with little to no supervision.
  • Assists Maintenance Tech II and III with tasks.
  • Delivers, picks up materials, and performs other related errands.
  • Maintains the grounds and exterior of the campuses, including: mowing, weed eating, cleaning sidewalks & parking lots, tree trimming, sign installation, and striping of parking lots.
  • Assists with event operations support, including event setup verification, customer communication, scheduling coordination, and event logistics as assigned.
  • Utilizes event management software and related technology platforms to support event planning, documentation, and scheduling processes.
  • Conducts event readiness reviews to verify facility setup, equipment availability, and operational requirements have been met.
  • Provides customer service support to internal and external event organizers and assists with resolving routine event-related questions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of general office procedures and practices. Knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Suite products. Skilled in performing basic general maintenance and custodial duties. Ability to maintain a cooperative working relationship with college administrators, faculty, staff, students, and the general public.

  • High School Diploma/GED and 3 years of full-time related experience; OR
  • Associates degree and 1 year of full-time related experience in general maintenance; OR
  • Any equivalent combination of education, training and/or related experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job and/or as approved by the Executive Director of Human Resources.
  • Must possess a valid Arizona driver’s license, including a clean MVR for the past 60 months.
Preferred

Knowledgeable in general maintenance.
