Job summary

Arch Insurance Group Inc. in the United States seeks a Claims Examiner, Casualty within the Mid Corp Casualty Team to actively manage commercial general liability claims for medium severity and related excess policies across the U.S. jurisdictions.

The role emphasizes coverage analysis, strategy, claims investigation, dispute resolution, and coordination with carriers, counsel and brokers; requires travel, strong communication and licensing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 3-5 years working experience with casualty claims for commercial accounts; Castellary/excess carrier experience a plus.
• Proper & active adjuster licensing in all applicable states.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assess coverage issues, draft coverage position letters and retain coverage counsel when necessary.
• Develop and implement strategy relative to coverage issues.
• Mitigate indemnity and expense exposures through timely resolution strategies.
• Maintain contact with claims carriers, underwriters, defense counsel and brokers to communicate developments.
• Investigate claims and review insured materials, pleadings and documents.
• Identify statutory rules and case law across jurisdictions.
• Review litigation materials including depositions and expert reports.
• Analyze risk transfer and indemnity issues; direct counsel as needed.
• Assess and document reserves based on coverage, liability and damages.
• Prepare and present reports to senior management on issues and reserves.
• Travel within the United States for mediations, trials and other proceedings.
• Negotiate resolutions of claims.
• Manage diary of claims and respond to inquiries.
