Job summary

Jobot is seeking an experienced General Liability Associate Attorney for its Woodbury, NY office. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in insurance defense and general liability litigation, with the ability to independently manage cases from inception through resolution.

Responsibilities include drafting pleadings, taking and defending depositions, and communicating with clients and insurance carriers. NY Bar admission and 5+ years of experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school and NY Bar admission are required.
• 5+ years of litigation experience with strong general liability or insurance defense background.
• Ability to manage litigation matters independently and draft substantive motions.

Job Details

We are seeking an experienced General Liability Associate Attorney to join the firm's Woodbury, NY office.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in insurance defense and general liability litigation, with the ability to independently manage cases, handle depositions, draft substantive motions, and work directly with clients.

Experience with premises liability, construction accidents, and New York Labor Law litigation is particularly attractive.

Responsibilities

• Manage general liability defense matters from inception through resolution.
• Draft pleadings, discovery responses, motions, briefs, and other litigation documents.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Conduct legal research and develop litigation strategies.
• Handle discovery, case evaluations, and settlement negotiations.
• Attend court appearances, conferences, mediations, and other proceedings as needed.
• Communicate with clients, insurance carriers, and opposing counsel.
• Maintain case deadlines and manage multiple active matters.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school.
• Active New York Bar admission.
• 5+ years of litigation experience.
• Strong general liability or insurance defense background.
• Substantive motion practice and deposition experience.
• Ability to manage litigation matters independently.
• Strong legal writing and communication skills.
• Ability to work onsite in Woodbury five days per week.

Highly Preferred

• Premises liability defense.
• Construction accident litigation.
• New York Labor Law §§ 200, 240, and 241(6).
• Insurance carrier representation and reporting.
• Experience managing cases through settlement or trial preparation.
