We are seeking a litigation attorney to join our professional liability and complex defense practice. In this role, we represent businesses and professionals in a variety of claims, disputes, regulatory matters, and litigation proceedings. We are looking for someone who enjoys writing, strategic case analysis, and active involvement throughout the litigation process.

This position offers substantial hands-on experience, meaningful client interaction, and increasing responsibility based on performance and experience. We welcome candidates with professional liability backgrounds as well as attorneys from other litigation practices who possess strong writing skills and a desire to learn a specialized area of defense work.

Responsibilities

• Represent clients in professional liability, disciplinary, and related litigation matters
• Evaluate claims, investigate facts, and develop case strategies
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, memoranda, discovery requests, and discovery responses
• Conduct legal research and prepare written analysis on complex legal issues
• Participate in depositions, court appearances, mediations, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation
• Manage discovery, fact development, and document review throughout litigation
• Communicate regularly with clients, experts, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders
• Collaborate with senior attorneys and gradually assume greater responsibility for case management
• Monitor deadlines, case budgets, and litigation strategy to ensure effective client service

Qualifications

• 3-5+ years of litigation experience
• Professional liability defense experience is preferred but not required
• Experience with discovery, depositions, hearings, motion practice, mediation, and trial preparation
• Excellent legal writing, research, and analytical abilities
• Strong organizational and case management skills
• Ability to manage multiple matters and competing deadlines
• Demonstrated sound judgment and problem-solving skills
• Strong interpersonal and client-service abilities
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team
• Prior insurance defense experience is beneficial

Requirements

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
• Active bar admission in Massachusetts or have the ability to waive in
• Admission in CT, RI, NY, NH, or surrounding states are a plus
• Strong writing sample demonstrating legal research and writing abilities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced litigation environment
• Professionalism, accountability, and attention to detail
• Commitment to client service and high-quality legal work
