GSME in San Jose is seeking a detail-oriented General Ledger Accountant to own the general ledger, record and review transactions, and prepare journal entries with monthly reconciliations. You will drive the month-, quarter-, and year-end close to ensure accurate reporting.

GSME is looking for a detail-oriented General Ledger Accountant to join our Finance team in San Jose. This is a full-time, on-site role reporting to Anna Zhang, and it plays a key part in keeping our financial records accurate as the company grows.
In this role, you'll own the general ledger. You'll record and review transactions, prepare journal entries, and complete monthly reconciliations. You'll also help drive a timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close. You'll work closely with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, HR, and Operations so our reporting stays accurate and compliant with U.S. GAAP. Beyond the day-to-day, you'll support audits, budgeting, and forecasting, and help us improve and automate our accounting processes as we scale.
This role is a great fit for someone with 3 to 5+ years of accounting experience who enjoys both precision and problem-solving. You should be comfortable explaining financial information to finance and non-finance teams alike. Experience in semiconductors, manufacturing, or a startup environment is a strong plus.
1. Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger by recording and reviewing financial transactions.
2. Prepare and post monthly journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and reclassifications.
Perform monthly balance sheet and bank account reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
3. Support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to ensure timely financial reporting. Prepare and analyze financial statements, schedules, and management reports.
4. Review account activity and perform variance analysis to identify unusual trends or discrepancies.
5. Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, company accounting policies, and internal control requirements.
6. Assist with internal and external audits by preparing supporting documentation and responding to auditor requests.
7. Manage Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.
8. Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities by providing account analysis and reporting.
9. Maintain fixed asset and lease accounting records, including depreciation and amortization schedules.
10. Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and increased efficiency within the accounting function.
11. Assist with system implementations, upgrades, and testing of accounting-related processes.
12. Ensure compliance with sales tax, business licenses, and other regulatory reporting requirements, as applicable.
13. Support special projects and ad hoc financial analysis requested by management.
1. Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting principles.
2. Proficiency with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar.
3. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis.
4. Experience with financial reporting and account reconciliation tools.
5. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
6. Ability to work cross-functionally with Finance, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Human Resources, and Operations teams.
7. Capable of explaining financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
8. 3 to 5+ years of accounting experience
