Job summary

Eddie Kane Steel Products, a family‑owned steel producer with a 24+ year history, seeks a full‑time General Laborer in New Jersey. Responsibilities include moving materials, operating tools and machinery, and maintaining production records in a fast paced environment.

Hours are Monday through Friday, 6:00am to 2:30pm. Pay ranges from $17.00 to $18.00 per hour, with strict safety protocols and PPE provided. No agencies, relocation, or calls.

• Dexterity and balance required.

Responsibilities

• Move raw material, work in process, and finished goods between work centers.
• Operate hand and power tools to clean finished materials and perform minor repairs.
• Operate machinery for secondary operations (drilling, punching, bending, grinding, torch cutting, shearing, flattening).
• Move finished material onto skids for final packaging.
• Maintain pace with equipment operators to ensure smooth material flow.

General Description:Responsible for providing the physical labor required to complete customer orders in an efficient and safe manner by performing the following duties.

*Hours are Monday thru Friday 6:00am-2:30pm*

Duties and Responsibilities

• Move raw material, work in process, and finished goods into and between work centers.
• Operate hand and power tools to clean finished materials and to complete minor repairs.
• Operate other machinery to complete secondary operations such as drilling, punching, bending, grinding, torch cutting, shearing, flattening, etc.
• Move finished material onto skids for final packaging.
• Maintain pace with equipment operators to ensure material flows smoothly into and out of individual work centers and prevent back up or delays.
• Use basic measuring tools to maintain quality standards on each order.
• Maintain neat and accurate written production documentation as required.
• Read, interpret, and understand the job requirements of each customer order. Communicate with foreman to ensure a complete understanding of all information.
• Communicate all pertinent job related information to foreman on a daily basis.
• Report any problems or quality concerns to supervisor immediately.
• Other related duties as assigned.

As a steel service center and distributor of hot-rolled prime and non-prime steel plate, Eddie Kane Steel sells on- and off-gauge, pattern and non-pattern plate sizes, ranging in thickness from 3/16 to 8 inches. Eddie Kane Steel maintains a diverse inventory of prime and non-prime steel plate and, for its strategic customer partners, stock inventory of custom-made parts. Value-added products include OEM parts, counterweights, and steel burn outs for diverse industries, including the waste industry, general building construction, transportation, agricultural and industrial equipment, drilling, theatrical stage, and elevator industries.
Eddie Kane Steel’s flagship processing facility in Ohio (180,000 square-foot warehouse and production plant) has a crane capacity up to 100 tons and has full rail access. The North Carolina and California facilities are also fully served by rail.
Eddie Kane Steel’s processing capabilities include high-definition plasma and oxy-fuel flame cutting, shearing, bending, drilling, punching, welding, beveling, Blanchard grinding, stress relieving, and light machining. With two plasma burning machines (including high-definition plasma machines), plate thicknesses up to 14 inches can be cut. Our oxy-fuel cutting capabilities include several multi-torch multi-head machines with several hundred feet of cutting surface.
