Job summary

Eddie Kane Steel Products is seeking a full-time Press Brake Operator to operate CNC press-brake equipment and complete customer orders according to work orders and drawings. You will help ensure quality, coordinate with foremen, and maintain documentation and safety standards on the shop floor.

  • Perform routine machine maintenance per preventive plan and coordinate with maintenance.
  • Document production and QC data accurately and timely.
  • Move materials and finished goods, assist in cleanup when needed.
  • Communicate shortages or issues to supervisor to maintain workflow.

General Description:

Responsible for operating CNC Press-Brake to complete customer orders per work orders, drawings, etc, and in accordance with the company-wide QC program.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Reads, interprets and clearly understands work order specifications and sets up machines to produce material that meets quality and customer expectations. Communicates with foreman to ensure a complete understanding of all information.
  • Sets up machines to optimize production efficiency and material yield without sacrificing quality.
  • Performs and documents routine machine maintenance in accordance with the preventive maintenance plan and in coordination and communication with maintenance mechanic.
  • Communicates with supervisor to ensure a steady flow of material is available to enable continuous production and minimal down time and performs a quick transition from job to job.
  • Serves as primary quality inspector and performs QC responsibilities consistent with the MEP Quality Control program and QC manual.
  • Uses basic measuring tools to maintain quality standards on each order.
  • Completes production documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Moves raw material, work in process, and finished goods into bins to be cleaned and actively participates in cleaning activities as time allows.
  • Communicates with supervisor to ensure adequate labor is provided to maintain work flow.
  • Communicates all pertinent job-related information to foreman on a daily basis.
  • Reports any problems or quality concerns to supervisor immediately.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Skill Sets:
  • Above average knowledge and expertise of his/her designated work center and the ability to perform basic machine programming, trouble shooting and setup.
  • Basic reading and mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to lift, bend, stoop, squat, stand or walk for extended periods of time
  • Good oral & written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with others
Education/Experience:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 2 -3 years prior experience

  • Maintain neat and accurate written production documentation as required
  • Communicate all pertinent job related information to supervisor/manager on a daily basis
  • Forward-thinking while learning from errors, with focus on quality and customer service, solutions and continual improvements
  • Focus on efficiencies and time- and labor-saving steps; cost reduction; increased profitability
  • Performs all duties as assigned

Eddie Kane Steel’s flagship processing facility in Ohio (180,000 square-foot warehouse and production plant) has a crane capacity up to 100 tons and has full rail access. The North Carolina and California facilities are also fully served by rail.
Eddie Kane Steel’s processing capabilities include high-definition plasma and oxy-fuel flame cutting, shearing, bending, drilling, punching, welding, beveling, Blanchard grinding, stress relieving, and light machining. With two plasma burning machines (including high-definition plasma machines), plate thicknesses up to 14 inches can be cut. Our oxy-fuel cutting capabilities include several multi-torch multi-head machines with several hundred feet of cutting surface. Through close partnerships with vendors offering proven high-quality workmanship, we provide services such as painting and coating, stamping, embossing, slitting, sawing, turning, annealing, leveling, and pressing.
