Position & Client Overview:

A small regional hospital in Moab, Utah, is seeking a permanent medical technologist or medical lab technician to work the night shift.

Salary Range: $62,000-82,000 with a $10,000 sign-on bonus.

Job Summary:

Identify the presence or absence of disease and provide data to assist physicians in determining the best treatment for patients. Specialty areas include clinical chemistry, hematology, transfusion services, clinical immunology, microbiology, serology, and molecular diagnostics.

Skill Requirements:

  • Calibrate, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Require dexterity and good eye-hand coordination to collect and prepare specimens.
  • Prioritize lab safety and infection prevention.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Perform testing across various laboratory areas: clinical chemistry, hematology, blood bank, immunology, microbiology, serology, and molecular diagnostics.
  • Match computer orders with specimen labels, sort specimens, check labels, log specimens, and prepare reports for delivery.
  • Maintain quality results, verify equipment function, troubleshoot, calibrate, and monitor quality control measures.
  • Participate in staff training and educational opportunities.
  • Identify and communicate abnormal patient conditions; report mandated information to health authorities.
  • Contribute to a safe environment by following standards and legal regulations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of laboratory information.

Education, Certification, & Experience:

  • MT/MLS: Bachelor's degree in science and MLS(ASCP) certification or equivalent.
  • MLT: Associate's degree in science and MLT(ASCP) certification or equivalent.
  • Minimum one (1) year of relevant experience required.
