Job summary

TemperPack is seeking a General Laborer for the 10:30 pm-6:30 am night shift at our Lansing, MI facility. You will support production lines, follow safety rules, and help maintain inventory while building boxes and operating small packaging equipment.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and are willing to work in a fast-paced environment. Prior production experience and a valid driver’s license are preferred; physical stamina is required for long shifts.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required.
• Previous experience in a production environment is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license is also preferred.

Responsibilities

• Run production and follow safety rules / procedures.
• Keep up with production flow and minimize downtime.
• Assist with inventory at period end and support area safety.
• Build boxes using tape and staple guns and operate related equipment.
• Support continuous process improvement to ensure safe, quality outputs.

Essential Job Functions:

• Responsible for running production and following safety rules / procedures.


• Able to keep up with the flow of production and minimize downtime.


• Willingness to use band saws, rip saws, baler, and plussing machine.


• Responsible for building boxes with use of tape gun and staple gun


• Willingness to help with inventory at the end of the month.


• Responsible for area safety and housekeeping


• Committed to continuous process improvement and to produce safe and quality products that meet specifications and our responsibility to our customers.


• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.


• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

QualificationsEducation and Experience:

• Minimum of a high school diploma or GED is required.


• Previous experience in a production environment is preferred.


• Valid driver’s license is also preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Able to lift 50 pounds unassisted


• Be on your feet for 10-12 hours a day


• Able to reach, bend, kneel and climb while performing repetitive tasks


• Ability to work in hot and cold environments


• Able to correctly wear PPE for entire shifts


• Able to react and respond quickly to noises, smells, visual hazards, and alerts
