Job summary

Silgan Containers in Missouri seeks a general production associate to perform routine functions including machine operation, can-sorting, cleanup, and paperwork in a safety-conscious environment. You will train toward forklift driver, palletizer, and packaging operator roles, read blueprints and manuals, and collaborate with a team to maintain quality standards during long production shifts.

This is a hands-on role with lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for long periods, and following all

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide; use decimals and fractions.
• Good English speaking and writing skills.
• Experience using computers, copiers, calculators, scanners, and printers.

Responsibilities

• Operate machine operator functions feeding materials into semi-automatic equipment.
• Operate palletizer functions to stack finished product on pallets.
• Perform cleaning, sorting, and cover for other operators as needed.
• Read blueprints and drawings, handbook specifications, equipment manuals, part lists, etc.
• Follow safety and quality procedures and complete required paperwork.

Job description

Perform general production functions, to include performing various clean-up tasks, can-sorting, relieve other operations and complete necessary paperwork for proper documentation, while following all safety and quality procedures.

Essential Job Functions:

• Perform machine operator functions to include feeding materials into and operating semi-automatic equipment
• Perform palletizer operator functions to include operation of semi-automatic equipment to stack finished product on pallets
• Various clean-up tasks, part sorting, and filling in for operators when needed
• Train to become a certified Forklift Driver, Palletizer, and Packaging Operator
• Read blueprints and drawings, handbook specifications, equipment manuals, part lists, etc.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by management

Job Requirements:

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, use decimals and fractions
• Good English speaking and writing skills
• Experience using computers, copiers, calculators, scanners, and printers

Experience/Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Requirements:

• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to kneel, stoop, crawl, squat, and stand for extended periods while running machinery up to 12 hours
• Ability to lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds
