Job summary

Silgan Containers in Saint Joseph, MO is seeking a general production worker to perform machine operator and palletizer tasks, clean-up and paperwork according to safety and quality standards.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, basic arithmetic, and good English communication; prior manufacturing experience is a plus. The role is on-site with training to operate forklift and other equipment as needed.

Responsibilities

• Complete clean-up, parts sorting, and cover for other operators as needed.
• Read blueprints, specifications, manuals, and part lists.
• Adhere to safety and quality procedures.

Job description

Perform general production functions, to include performing various clean-up tasks, can-sorting, relieve other operations and complete necessary paperwork for proper documentation, while following all safety and quality procedures.

Essential Job Functions:

• Perform machine operator functions to include feeding materials into and operating semi-automatic equipment
• Perform palletizer operator functions to include operation of semi-automatic equipment to stack finished product on pallets
• Various clean-up tasks, part sorting, and filling in for operators when needed
• Train to become a certified Forklift Driver, Palletizer, and Packaging Operator
• Read blueprints and drawings, handbook specifications, equipment manuals, part lists, etc.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by management

Job Requirements:

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, use decimals and fractions
• Good English speaking and writing skills
• Experience using computers, copiers, calculators, scanners, and printers

Experience/Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Requirements:

• Previous experience in a manufacturing environment

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to kneel, stoop, crawl, squat, and stand for extended periods while running machinery up to 12 hours
• Ability to lift, push or pull up to 50 pounds
