Job summary

UFP Industries, Inc. is seeking a general laborer to safely handle lumber products and verify material meets customer requirements. The role involves moving, stacking, labeling, tagging, and securing materials, using staple guns, and ensuring accurate tag inventory.

You will participate in safety and continuous improvement initiatives and help keep work areas organized. The position requires 18+ years of age with basic math skills; no extensive experience is required, though lumber/manufacturing

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED preferred but not required.
  • No minimum experience required, but manufacturing or lumber experience is preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Working knowledge of basic math preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Move and secure lumber products and materials according to instructions.
  • Stack finished products according to predetermined bundle sizes and/or customer requirements.
  • Label material based on type, size, and count.
  • Apply individual tags to material before/after treating/production.
  • Use a staple gun and troubleshoot equipment.
  • Band, bundle and secure material, including corner protectors and loading sticks.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of tags and report discrepancies to supervisor.
  • Record production on production sheets.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Participate in safety, CI and other programs and meetings.

Verifies material meets customer requirements and company expectations.Principle Duties and ResponsibilitiesMoves and secures lumber products and other materials according to instructionsStacks finished products according to predetermined bundle sizes and/or customer requirementsLabels material based on the following specifications: type, size, and countApplies individual tags to material before/after treating/productionUses a staple gun and troubleshoots equipmentBands, bundles and secures material, including attaching corner protectors and loading sticksFollows instructions for stacking material properly and according to company policy and customer requirementsEnsures correct quantities and material are strapped, and labeled before leaving the work areaMaintains accurate inventory of tags and reports any problems or discrepancies to supervisorRecords production on production sheetsMaintains a clean and organized work areaAssists with other work areas by moving material, loading and unloading material cartsParticipates in safety, CI and other programs and meetingsPerforms other duties as requiredQualificationsHigh school diploma/GED preferred but not requiredNo minimum experience is required, but manufacturing or lumber experience is preferredWorking knowledge of basic math preferredMust be at least 18 years of ageHourly/Salary Pay Range: $18.00-21.00/ hr *dependent on experience*pay range may be adjusted depending on cost of livingBonus/Incentive Pay: Incentive pay may be available for certain job roles and may include piece rate incentives, weekly production bonuses, trip rates, and employee referral bonuses.
