Job summary

Saputo Cheese USA Inc. is seeking an entry-level Plant Production Associate in California. The role offers hands-on training across multiple positions to support daily plant operations.

You will follow SOPs, work in a team, and participate in packaging, carton stacking, and rework as needed, with emphasis on safety, accuracy, and timely record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and efficient production support including hand-stacking, packaging, and housekeeping.
• Set up packaging coders and validate product codes per specifications.
• Maintain production records and assist with equipment change-overs.
• Follow SOPs, GMPs and Food Safety requirements.
• Support audits and cross-train with other departments.

This involves being detail oriented with strong emphasis on accuracy and organization.Position ResponsibilitiesProvide safe and efficient production support, which may include: hand-stacking, case packing, housekeeping, product conveying and reclaim.Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOP’s) in detail without deviation.Set-up packaging coders, validate product codes in accordance with code specifications.Identify and effectively communicate any out-of-specification product conditions. Follow the established notification protocol.Perform routine equipment adjustments. Use of various hand tools.Safe operation of a lift truck, moving materials throughout shift as needed/required.Accurately and neatly complete production records and documents.Assist with equipment change-overs, CIP/SIP, clean-up and equipment set-up.Perform department environmental controls.Perform product reclaim and rework operations.Perform product packaging and stacking operations.Support internal and external audits.Follow all established occupational health and safety procedures.Follow all established GMP’s and Food Safety requirements.Cross-train with other departments.Perform good housekeeping within established housekeeping guidelines.Adhere to the Saputo Code of Ethics, actively apply the Saputo Company Values and Workplace Climate Policy.Work together in a team environment with co-workers and other department personnel.Other duties as required by management.Job requirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent or (1)-year demonstrated work experience.Previous experience in food manufacturing, warehousing, dairy food manufacturing experience preferred.Good math skills.Proficient computer skills, software and data entry, SAP a plus.Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen and background check.Strong verbal and written communication skills, in English.Good attendance is a mustPhysical DemandsAbility to work in manufacturing environment which includes but not limited to: noise, changing temperatures (hot, wet, cold, humid), standing/walking/bending/stooping/climbing stairs, maneuvering around manufacturing equipment consistently throughout the shift.Fine manipulation and dexterity, gripping and squeezing.Visual acuity with the ability to see color.Working with chemicals, wearing personal protective equipment and following approved chemical handling procedures.Physical lifting up to 50-lbs frequently throughout the shift and ability to lift 50+ lbs with assistance.Shift flexibility. This is a hands-on role for a 24/7 manufacturing facility. Our equipment operators are assigned to a team on a 24/7 operation to support manufacturing. This can either be rotating, days, swing or night shifts and weekends.
