Job summary

Saputo Cheese USA Inc. is seeking an entry-level plant production associate for a 24/7 manufacturing facility. You will receive training across multiple positions to support plant operations and contribute to safe, efficient production.

The role requires a strong work ethic, teamwork, and the ability to follow SOPs with attention to detail. Valid lifting ability and pass pre-employment screenings are expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or (1)-year demonstrated work experience.
• Strong math skills and ability to work with numbers.
• Good verbal and written communication in English.
• Proficient computer skills, data entry, SAP a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and efficient production support, including hand-stacking, case packing, housekeeping and product conveying.
• Set-up packaging coders and validate product codes.
• Identify out-of-specification product conditions and communicate them.
• Perform routine equipment adjustments and use various hand tools.
• Operate a lift truck safely and move materials as needed.
• Complete production records accurately and neatly.
• Assist with equipment change-overs, CIP/SIP, clean-up and setup.
• Support internal and external audits and follow GMP and food safety procedures.

This is an entry-level plant production position. If hired, the employee will receive training in multiple positions in an effort to support plant operations.

Ability to multi-task and follow instructions. Must be self-motivated and self-directed to support complex operations. Critical thinking and ability to analyze data and situations is a must. This involves being detail oriented with strong emphasis on accuracy and organization.

Position Responsibilities

Provide safe and efficient production support, which may include:

• hand-stacking
• case packing
• housekeeping
• product conveying and reclaim
• Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOP’s) in detail without deviation.
• Set-up packaging coders, validate product codes in accordance with code specifications.
• Identify and effectively communicate any out-of-specification product conditions.
• Follow the established notification protocol.
• Perform routine equipment adjustments.
• Use of various hand tools.
• Safe operation of a lift truck, moving materials throughout shift as needed/required.
• Accurately and neatly complete production records and documents.
• Assist with equipment change-overs, CIP/SIP, clean-up and equipment set-up.
• Perform department environmental controls.
• Perform product reclaim and rework operations.
• Perform product packaging and stacking operations.
• Support internal and external audits.
• Follow all established occupational health and safety procedures.
• Follow all established GMP’s and Food Safety requirements.
• Cross-train with other departments.
• Perform good housekeeping within established housekeeping guidelines.
• Adhere to the Saputo Code of Ethics, actively apply the Saputo Company Values and Workplace Climate Policy.
• Work together in a team environment with co-workers and other department personnel.
• Other duties as required by management.

Job requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent or (1)-year demonstrated work experience.
• Previous experience in food manufacturing, warehousing, dairy food manufacturing experience preferred.
• Good math skills.
• Proficient computer skills, software and data entry, SAP a plus.
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug screen and background check.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, in English.
• Good attendance is a must.

Physical Demands

• Ability to work in manufacturing environment which includes but not limited to: noise, changing temperatures (hot, wet, cold, humid), standing/walking/bending/stooping/climbing stairs, maneuvering around manufacturing equipment consistently throughout the shift.
• Fine manipulation and dexterity, gripping and squeezing.
• Visual acuity with the ability to see color.
• Working with chemicals, wearing personal protective equipment and following approved chemical handling procedures.
• Physical lifting up to 50-lbs frequently throughout the shift and ability to lift 50+ lbs with assistance.
• Shift flexibility.
• This is a hands-on role for a 24/7 manufacturing facility.
• Our equipment operators are assigned to a team on a 24/7 operation to support manufacturing.
• This can either be rotating, days, swing or night shifts and weekends.
• Work days and shifts may change to help cover vacations/absences, during plant downtime or related events such as audits.
