Job summary

Exelon is seeking a General Engineer to lead and support engineering efforts across its electric and gas transmission, substations and related systems. The role includes developing engineering solutions, managing deliverables, and ensuring regulatory compliance, with responsiveness to storm events and energy delivery emergencies.

You will drive safety, reliability, and operational efficiency, coordinate budgeting and cost estimation, and collaborate across departments with external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Licensed Professional Engineer (2) (3)
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Knowledge of engineering designs, principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of complex field test equipment.
  • 4-7 years of professional engineering experience (1) (3) (See Note).
  • Broad knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes methods, practices, and advanced engineering principles.
  • Engineer in Training OR
  • 50% complete (by hours) with advanced technical degree, M.B.A. or Project Management Certification

Responsibilities

  • Performs engineering assignments of moderate complexity, exercising independent judgment under the guidance of experienced engineers (e.g., collect and analyze technical data, interpret results, draw conclusions, and present recommendations to management) (50%)
  • Leads small engineering projects or tasks, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure technical requirements and standards are met (e.g., analyze and interpret results of power flows, perform engineering tests, and resolve ambiguous findings) (30%)
  • Provides technical support and consultation to engineering and operating groups, assisting in the design, installation, and maintenance of systems and equipment (e.g., review and validate studies, blueprints, or designs against accepted engineering principles and practices). (10%)
  • Participates in the evaluation and improvement of technical systems and processes, contributing to project planning and implementation, and may assign and review work as needed. (10%)
