Job summary

Confidentiel is hiring its first General Counsel to support a portfolio of deep-tech companies and a growing investment program. The role blends strategic legal leadership with practical operational guidance for hardware-focused growth companies, including vendor contracts, government programs, and cross-border compliance.

The GC will own portfolio relationships, design playbooks for complex negotiations, and steer risk management across regulatory, manufacturing, and corporate matters.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school and licensed in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• 12+ years of relevant legal experience, including meaningful in-house leadership as GC or senior counsel.
• Experience supporting high-growth technology, industrial or manufacturing companies, or investment firms.
• Strong experience with venture financing, corporate governance, commercial contracting, and managing sophisticated outside counsel.
• Comfort advising founders, executive teams, boards and investors on high-stakes matters.
• Deep tech, manufacturing, regulatory or related sector experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a value-creation resource for portfolio companies, guiding pivots and restructures as markets change.
• Manage legal matters for fund operations and investments, coordinating governance with outside counsel as needed.
• Develop governance frameworks protecting investor rights and portfolio company flexibility.
• Create playbooks for government contracts and incentive programs with compliance checklists.
• Provide quarterback support in high-stakes negotiations and complex commercial deals.
