Job summary

Colorado Department of Corrections is seeking an advanced practice clinician to provide initial assessment, hormone treatment, and maintenance for gender-affirming care in a Denver facility. You will diagnose, treat, and coordinate care for offenders, including referrals and emergency coverage.

The role requires licensure as APN/NP or PA, with leadership in the Gender Dysphoria Treatment Committee and collaboration with facility providers to ensure quality care.

Qualifications

• Current, valid licensure as APN/NP from Colorado Board of Nursing or PA from Colorado Medical Board.
• Specialties: Family Practice for APN or General/Family Medicine for PA.
• Willing to obtain RX authority within six months of hire.
• Experience in gender-affirming care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical examinations and detailed histories for assigned patients.
• Assess and initiate gender-affirming hormone treatment and 12 months maintenance.
• Follow-up care, referrals, and coordination with outside specialists.
• Prescribe medications per CDOC formulary and guidelines.
• Provide emergency coverage and basic life support as needed.
• Chair Gender Dysphoria Treatment Committee and participate in placement reviews.
• Review labs, imaging, and tests; perform venipuncture and related lab work.
• Develop policies and training materials; educate offenders and staff.
