Job summary

TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC seeks a GenAI Safety & Policy Engineer to champion safe, responsible deployments for the US market. You will lead fairness assessments, support policy translation, and coordinate with Engineering, Legal, and Product to implement concrete safety requirements.

You will help shape governance frameworks, work closely with US teams, and ensure pre-release evaluation, bias mitigation, and compliance with US safety expectations before products reach users.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in Trust & Safety, AI Governance, Product Development, or Applied Research with a US tech focus.
• Strong understanding of model development and evaluation with engineering and data science context.
• Experience conducting AI impact or risk assessments and audits.

Responsibilities

• Conduct end-to-end safety and fairness evaluation of GenAI models before US market launch, including AI Fairness Impact Assessments and go/no-go safety thresholds.
• Partner with Global Policy to translate US data needs into policy requirements (not writing policies).
• Bridge Engineering, Security, Data Science, Legal, and Product to translate risks into policy requirements for the US market.
• Support quantitative frameworks to assess fairness risks in LLMs and recommendation models for US communities.
• Provide safety guidance for AI-powered tools (e.g., Tako) and optimize product safety features.
• Offer policy adjudications and calibrations for US GenAI cases.
• Influence dashboards and tooling for ongoing model review and automated compliance monitoring.
