Job summary

Citi in Tampa, FL is seeking a Gen AI Engineer to contribute to the creation and refinement of scalable AI-powered applications. You will design, implement, and maintain Python-based backends and GenAI features, leveraging OpenAI and Gemini APIs, and deploying robust systems with FastAPI/Flask/Django.

You will collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and engineers, while upholding coding standards, tests, and security practices.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development with Python focus.
• Hands-on GenAI concepts and API experience (OpenAI, Gemini).
• Experience with Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) and AI tooling.
• Proficiency in FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• Familiarity with Git, testing and CI/CD.
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• Strong problem solving and independent work capability.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Python code for GenAI apps.
• Integrate GenAI APIs (OpenAI, Gemini) to build new features.
• Implement and optimize Retrieval Augmented Generation systems.
• Develop backend services using FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• Collaborate with product managers, data scientists and engineers.
• Write unit and integration tests; participate in code reviews.
• Optimize performance, scalability and security of applications.
• Serve as SME to stakeholders and guide junior team members.
