Job summary

Citi seeks a senior GenAI Engineer to lead backend development focused on scalable Python services and GenAI capabilities. You will integrate GenAI APIs like OpenAI and Gemini, implement RAG, and collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and engineers to deliver robust solutions.

On-site in Tampa, you will mentor mid-level developers, write tests, review code, and drive performance, security, and best practices across the Tech organization.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional software development experience with a strong focus on Python.
• Proven hands-on experience with Generative AI concepts and technologies.
• Demonstrable experience with GenAI-related APIs such as OpenAI and Gemini.
• Strong experience implementing Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) systems.
• Expertise in at least one modern Python web framework: FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• Strong understanding of software development best practices, including Git, testing, and CI/CD.
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of scalable Python backends for GenAI applications.
• Integrate GenAI APIs (OpenAI, Gemini) to build new features and products.
• Design, develop, and maintain high-quality backend services.
• Write unit and integration tests and participate in code reviews.
• Advise and coach mid-level developers and analysts.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and Citi policies.
