Job summary

Citigroup Inc. in Tampa, FL seeks a senior Gen AI Engineer to lead application systems analysis and programming within the Technology team.

You will design, develop and maintain Python-based backends for Generative AI applications, integrate OpenAI/Gemini APIs, implement RAG, and collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and engineers to deliver innovative features with robust security and scalability.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 years professional software development experience with a strong focus on Python.
• Proven hands-on experience with Generative AI concepts and technologies.
• Demonstrable experience working with GenAI-related APIs, such as OpenAI, Gemini, etc.
• Solid understanding and practical experience in implementing Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) systems.
• Expertise in at least one modern Python web framework: FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• Strong understanding of software development best practices, including version control (Git), testing, and CI/CD.
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Partner with multiple management teams to ensure integration of functions to meet goals and define system enhancements for new products and process improvements.
• Resolve high impact problems through evaluation of business processes, system processes, and industry standards.
• Provide expertise in applications programming and ensure design adheres to architecture blueprint.
• Develop standards for coding, testing, debugging, and implementation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and deliver solutions.
• Write unit and integration tests and participate in code reviews to uphold quality.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and security.
