Job summary

Citi in Tampa, FL is seeking a Gen AI engineer at an intermediate level to contribute to the design, development, and deployment of scalable AI-enabled applications. You will work with the Technology team to implement new or revised systems and provide technical guidance across projects.

You will write robust Python code, integrate GenAI APIs (OpenAI, Gemini), implement retrieval augmented generation, and collaborate with product managers, data scientists and other engineers to deliver secure,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience with a strong focus on Python.
• Hands-on experience with Generative AI concepts and technologies.
• Experience with GenAI-related APIs such as OpenAI and Gemini.
• Experience with Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) systems.
• Expertise in at least one modern Python web framework: FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• Strong understanding of software development best practices, including version control (Git), testing, and CI/CD.
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Python code for GenAI applications.
• Integrate GenAI APIs to build features.
• Implement and optimize RAG systems.
• Develop backend services with FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
• Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and engineers to define requirements and deliver solutions.
• Write unit and integration tests and participate in code reviews.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and security.
