Job summary

Bain & Company is seeking AI Engineering Interns for Summer 2027 to work on GenAI applications and agentic solutions. You will gain hands-on exposure across the AI lifecycle—from prototyping to deployment—while collaborating with engineers, data scientists and consultants.

You will learn through close mentorship, real project work, and increasing responsibility, with opportunities to contribute to client-focused AI deployments.

Qualifications

• 0-2+ years AI/ML engineering experience or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Design and develop GenAI applications using modern LLM stacks
• Implement AI pipelines (RAG, fine-tuning, embeddings, hybrid retrieval)
• Assist in tool use, function calling and orchestration across AI workflows
• Build agent capabilities (context management, memory/state, orchestration, tool integration)
• Support model experimentation, evaluation design and production deployment tasks
• Write clean, testable code and contribute to APIs/services through the full SDLC
• Contribute to evaluation and observability for GenAI systems
• Incorporate responsible AI practices (guardrails, HITL) across system design
• Contribute to reusable components and evaluation harnesses
• End-to-end ML work: data prep, feature engineering, training, validation
• Collaborate with product, engineering and data science teams
• Communicate clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
• Support client discussions and documentation
