Cardinal Health Sonexus Health Pharmacy Services is seeking an AI Engineer to design, deploy, and scale GenAI-powered applications for healthcare operations, patient services, and internal clinical workflows. The role emphasizes secure, compliant AI with a focus on agentic reasoning and orchestration.

You will collaborate with product, engineering, data and business teams to deliver production-grade AI platforms across Azure and GCP, ensuring reliability and enterprise alignment with HIPAA

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong Python proficiency.
• 2+ years building GenAI/LLM-based applications in enterprise environments.
• Experience designing agentic or multi-step AI workflows using orchestration frameworks.
• Strong understanding of retrieval pipelines, embeddings, vector databases, prompts, and LLM APIs.
• Experience deploying AI solutions in Azure and/or GCP.
• Familiarity with healthcare/privacy/compliance requirements (HIPAA, PHI).
• Experience supporting care teams, analytics, or program operations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and deploy GenAI applications using RAG, prompts, fine-tuning, and vector search.
• Build and maintain Python-based APIs and components for AI services.
• Develop multi-step agentic workflows for reasoning and orchestration.
• Integrate AI capabilities into healthcare workflows and enterprise systems.
• Deploy, monitor, and optimize GenAI models and pipelines with MLOps practices.
• Collaborate across cloud environments (Azure and GCP) and AI platform architecture.
• Ensure security, privacy, and compliance in AI solutions.
• Document designs, best practices, and integration approaches.
• Evaluate vendor architectures, data flows, and access controls.
