Cardinal Health is hiring an AI Engineer to design, deploy, and scale GenAI-powered solutions in healthcare operations and enterprise workflows. You will collaborate with product, data, and business teams to ensure compliant, secure AI integrations across clinical-adjacent processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
• 5+ years in software engineering with Python and other languages (Java/.Net/C#).
• 2+ years building GenAI/LLM-based apps in enterprise environments.
• Experience designing agentic or multi-step AI workflows with orchestration frameworks.
• Strong understanding of retrieval pipelines, embeddings, vector databases, prompts, and LLM APIs.
• Experience deploying AI solutions in Azure and/or GCP.
• Familiarity with secure development and enterprise integration patterns.
• Experience in healthcare, life sciences, pharmacy services, or regulated industries preferred.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, PHI handling, and secure AI design in compliance-driven environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and deploy Generative AI applications using RAG, prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and vector search.
• Build and maintain Python-based APIs and software components to support AI services and ensure scalable, production-grade solutions.
• Develop multi-step, agentic workflows for reasoning, task execution, and orchestration using LangChain, LangGraph, and LlamaIndex.
• Integrate AI capabilities into healthcare and pharmacy services workflows, including case management and analytics.
• Deploy, monitor, and optimize GenAI models and pipelines using cloud-native tooling and MLOps best practices.
• Contribute to AI platform and reference architecture across Azure and Google Cloud.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet security, privacy, and compliance requirements (HIPAA, PHI).
• Document designs, patterns, and best practices for enterprise reuse and sustainability.
• Evaluate vendor solution architectures, data flows, and security controls for integration approaches.
• Participate in technical discovery and proof-of-concept activities with vendor recommendations.
