Cardinal Health – Sonexus Health Pharmacy Services is seeking an AI Engineer to design, deploy, and scale GenAI-powered solutions for healthcare operations. You’ll work across product, engineering, data, and business units to ensure compliant, scalable AI in enterprise workflows.

The role emphasizes agentic AI, orchestration, and secure AI design, with cloud deployments on Azure and GCP and a focus on improving patient access and therapy outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in CS/AI preferred.
• 5+ years software engineering; strong Python; Java/.Net/C# preferred.
• 2+ years building GenAI/LLM apps in enterprise.
• Experience with agentic/multi-step AI workflows and orchestration like LangGraph.
• Knowledge of retrieval pipelines, embeddings, vector databases, prompt engineering, and LLM APIs.
• Experience deploying AI in Azure and/or GCP.
• Familiar with secure app development and enterprise integration patterns.
• Experience in healthcare, life sciences, pharma services, or regulated industries preferred.
• Knowledge of HIPAA/PHI handling and secure AI design in regulated environments preferred.
• Exposure to responsible AI practices, governance, and monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and deploy GenAI applications using RAG, prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and vector search.
• Build and maintain Python APIs and components to support AI services.
• Develop multi-step, agentic workflows for reasoning and orchestration using LangChain/LangGraph/LlamaIndex.
• Integrate AI capabilities into healthcare workflows including case management and analytics.
• Deploy, monitor, and optimize GenAI models and pipelines with MLOps best practices.
• Collaborate to ensure security, privacy, and HIPAA compliance across cloud environments.
• Contribute to AI platform reference architecture across Azure and GCP.
• Document designs, patterns, and best practices for enterprise reuse.
