Nelnet is seeking a Data Pipeline Engineer to design, build, and maintain data pipelines on Google Cloud for GenAI use cases within the Nelnet GenAI delivery team.

You will classify data with Dataplex and DLP, enforce governance, and collaborate with GCP/Gemini and AgentOps on data structures and security. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required, with hands-on cloud data experience valued.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building data pipelines and ELT/ETL for analytics or GenAI on a major cloud data platform.
• Strong SQL skills and Python for pipeline development and data transformation.
• Experience with data governance and classification tooling (Dataplex, DLP) is preferred.
• Ability to work from a scoped backlog and translate technical requirements into data pipelines.
• Familiarity with FERPA and education/public sector data privacy considerations.

Responsabilités

• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines using BigQuery and Dataflow (or Cloud Composer) for GenAI use cases.
• Develop ELT/ETL processes for batch ingestion of SIS, ERP, and casework data into analytics stores.
• Monitor pipeline reliability, optimize BigQuery usage, and manage costs as engagements scale.
• Classify data with Dataplex and DLP to identify sensitive data before AI use.
• Define access controls and governance policies for higher education data.
• Collaborate with GCP/Gemini and AgentOps teams on data structures and security.
