Job summary

AikiTech in Scottsdale, AZ seeks an early-career software engineer to contribute to production GenAI systems for public sector use. You will write Python, build backend services, test systems, and learn from senior engineers while ensuring compliance and reliability.

You'll work with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure Gov) and pursue secure development practices, documenting your work and translating agency requirements into dependable software for regulated environments.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science completed before employment start date.
• Zero to two years of professional software engineering experience; internships and research count.
• Strong Python programming skills and understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• At least one substantial software project you can explain in depth.
• Practical exposure to LLM APIs or applied machine learning through coursework or projects.
• Experience building or consuming APIs and working with structured data.
• Familiarity with Git, automated testing, and collaborative software development practices.
• Basic familiarity with AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.

Responsibilities

• Build Python backend services, APIs, and data-processing pipelines.
• Contribute to LLM-powered applications on public-cloud platforms.
• Create and maintain automated tests and evaluation datasets.
• Integrate models, embedding services, and internal platform components.
• Assist with real-time audio transcription and event-driven processing.
• Contribute to cloud deployments across AWS and Azure government-cloud environments.
• Use Git, CI/CD, logging, monitoring, and issue tracking in the development lifecycle.
• Follow secure-development practices including least-privilege access and data retention controls.
• Prepare technical documentation for SOC 2 and CJIS-alignment work.
• Investigate defects and implement durable fixes.
• Translate agency requirements into reliable software behavior.
