Job summary

Harvard University is seeking an Associate Director of the Program in General Education to lead academic affairs operations, faculty support, and curriculum management. You will oversee Gen Ed courses, provide pedagogical leadership, and drive strategic planning with senior leadership in Cambridge, MA.

The role requires strong supervisory skills, extensive teaching experience, and the ability to navigate complex educational initiatives, including GenAI adoption.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
• Minimum of 7 years’ relevant work experience.
• Ph.D. preferred.
• Direct supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of effective pedagogical practices and teaching methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with the Director on leadership of the Program in General Education through strategic planning and representing the department on committees.
• Manages a team of two Grade-55 Course Coordinators responsible for logistics for Gen Ed courses.
• Provides pedagogical support and training to promote adoption of instructional initiatives set by FAS and Gen Ed Faculty Standing Committee.
• Supports implementation of strategic pedagogical initiatives including GenAI and educational technologies.
• Acts as the office’s first responder on sensitive issues, coordinating with General Counsel and Employee Relations as needed.
• Compiles, analyzes, and reports data to stakeholders as requested.
• Other duties as needed.
