Job summary

Ocean County College seeks a GED and Work Readiness Instructor to guide adult learners through the Work Readiness Assistance Program (WRAP) with classroom, remote and blended instruction. You will assess, advise, and monitor progress to support academic and career growth.

The role includes developing curricula aligned with CCRS, maintaining accurate records, and collaborating with staff to ensure student success within a 52-week grant-funded framework.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education or closely related field.
• Knowledge of Federal and State Literacy programs.
• Master's Degree in Education or closely related field.
• Possession of current New Jersey State Teaching License.
• At least one year of prior teaching experience in secondary education, higher education or adult education.
• At least two years of experience working with Basic Skills, Adult Education, Workforce Readiness, or literacy programs.
• Excellent presentation and training experience with in-person and virtual settings.

Responsibilities

• Instructs all subject matter in Adult Basic Education and GED at multiple levels; blends digital literacy and online resources.
• Administers assessment instruments to diagnose, evaluate, and place learners and assist with transitioning to post-secondary education or workforce preparation.
• Maintains records and prepares designated reports and grant-related performance reports.
• Provides academic services including instruction and advisement to help students set and achieve goals.
• Develops lesson plans and integrates work readiness skills and career pathways.
• Assists with curriculum development and CCRS alignment; promotes innovation and improved student services.
• Collaborates with staff and advisors to improve transition outcomes for learners.
• Attends local, state, and regional trainings; participates in committees as assigned.
• Performs related projects, initiatives, and duties as assigned.
