Job summary

AHRC New York City is seeking a Full-time Youth Workforce Development Academic Instructor to support 17-24 year olds through GED prep and attainment of a High School Equivalency diploma. The role emphasizes engaging, student-centered instruction in Reading, Writing, Math, Science, and Social Studies.

Responsibilities include administering TABE assessments, developing individualized learning plans, and tracking progress while aligning with DYCD requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education, Human Services, Counseling, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience teaching or tutoring youth, preferably in GED preparation, alternative education, or workforce development settings.
• Familiarity with GED curriculum, TABE testing, and adult basic education instructional methods strongly preferred.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish or other relevant languages) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer GED-related assessments and tailor instruction to student skill levels.
• Deliver trauma-informed, student-centered instruction across Reading, Writing, Math, Science and Social Studies.
• Create individualized learning plans and track progress with portfolios and attendance.
• Prepare students for GED subject areas: RLA, Mathematical Reasoning, Science and Social Studies.
• Collaborate with DYCD teams and participate in team meetings and reporting requirements.

Education

Masters degree or NYS teacher certification
