Job summary

The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice seeks a GED Instructor at Muscogee YDC in Columbus, GA. You will teach basic and GED skills, reading, mathematics, science, and social studies while helping students set goals and prepare for the GED exam.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or certification in area of vocational assignment, or 1 year of experience at Instructor 1 level.
• Positions may require area specific certifications.
• Three years of GED teaching experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in creation of reports, records, and paperwork.
• Maintains communication with staff, community agencies, parents, students, and school staff.
• Instructs students on material needed to earn GED and teaches Math, Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts.
• Administers assessments to determine comprehension and progress.
• Maintains accurate grades and utilizes diverse curricula reflecting student backgrounds.
• Provides instruction individually and sets clear learning objectives.
• Maintains classroom management and participates in professional growth.
